From The Front OfficeMarch is Reading Month!
We will be welcoming a guest author on March 22. Are you looking forward to Spring? How about starting some Spring cleaning/purging this weekend? Bobcats that make their March is Reading Month Goal (be on the lookout for more information about the goal coming home soon) will have a chance to pick a gently used book from our school-wide book swap. Starting on Monday, March 4th Mrs. Lamanna will have boxes outside her classroom for students to donate gently used children’s books. Bobcats can simply place old books they aren’t using at home in these boxes. We will collect gently used books from March 4th-March 22nd. During the week of March 25th-29th, the students that make their reading goal will receive a ticket to pick a book out from the swap. We are asking for all types of books (fiction, nonfiction, chapter, picture) that are gently used that other kids would enjoy reading! Please let Mrs. Parnin know if you have any questions! Lucky Grams Lucky Grams are back! They will be sold for $0.50 each. Please consider sending a Lucky Gram to that special student. All proceeds will benefit the non-profit organization Books for Africa, which collects and distributes books to students of all ages in Africa. Please see the flyer for more information. Lucky Grams will be delivered, along with a special non-edible treat, on March 15th! Leadership Lighthouse To support our lighthouse journey, build community, and highlight the 7 habits, please feel free to send in pictures or videos of your children using of the habits so they can be displayed on our morning announcements. Please send the pictures or videos with your child's name and the habit they are using to [email protected] School Funding Presentation Did anyone see the study that MSU released on school funding and Michigan's lack of it? Michigan PTA reached out to Dr. Randy Liepa, who is on the School Finance Research Collaborative Committee who put out the report and he is sharing his knowledge with all those who are interested on Monday, March 11th at Old Village School in downtown Northville. Presentation starts at 6:30 and will be recorded to be made available to those who cannot attend. Mary Kay Gallagher, Superintendent; Mike Zopf, Assistant Superintendent and Matt Wilk, School Board Treasurer will be on hand to bring NPS specific information and answer questions. Questions regarding Proposal A? Lottery funds? Property taxes going toward our schools? Come get the answers. Any questions can be sent to [email protected] |
Next Meeting
Please join us in the MPR on Thursday, March 7 at 9:00 am for our next PTA meeting. Mark your calendars for upcoming meetings by checking out the meeting schedule. Dana Schaad, a dietitian and Amerman parent, will be our guest speaker. She will share tips from the healthy kids/healthy families program at St. Joe’s and answer your questions. Please join us! It could be good for your health! Morning Loop Please be respectful in the loop. Morning time is very busy. With the cold weather, lines for drop off are getting long. These safety instructions are not to make life difficult, but for the safety of our Amerman students and to make the morning loop run smoother for all! Here are the Morning Loop reminders - Use BOTH lanes. Allow cars to “merge”, every other car - For the safety of kids, DO NOT drop off where there is no volunteer. We find that kids are not always paying attention, and we don’t want them to wander over the yellow line into a car. There are many spots in the drop off area that are slippery, or snow covered. We don’t want anyone to slip, this is why we are asking to drop off only where there is an attendant. - There are several parents that are ignoring the safety instruction in the loop. This is not to make life difficult, but for safety. - Please keep moving in the loop. - Please be kind to the LOOP VOLUNTEERS. They work hard to make the loop a safe. Please treat them with respect. - If the loop is really busy on a particular day; feel free to park and help. We love volunteers! TRIP RAFFLE Win a trip to Grand Hotel, 5 park hopper tickets for Disney World in Orlando or an RV rental! Just $20 buys one chance at one of these amazing prizes! Buy as many chances as you’d like! The winner will be chosen at Breakfast with a Buddy in April (no need to be present to win). Purchase tickets using the form. Good luck! What is the PTA? Why become a member?
The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is made up of parents and teachers who work together to enrich our children's lives. Joining and participating in events and donating your time are also great ways to make friends and get to know the people in your community. The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more PTA advantages:
Ready to join? Fill out the form online at www.amermanpta.com or on our Member Hub Directory. The membership form is also available online for printing. |
iChat FormThe Northville Public School District requires that a background check via the Internet Criminal History Access Tool (iChat) with the Michigan State Police be conducted for individuals who school officials reasonably expect may have regular and continuous contact with students, or may at times be with students absent the presence of a school staff member. This may include but is not limited to: 1. pre-student teachers 2. field trip chaperones 3. regular volunteers 4. extra curricular group leaders 5. anyone handling cash or district funds.
Still need to fill out yours? It's accessible here. |
